My NikonD40 camera with DX AF-S nikkor 18-55mm lens has stopped auto focusing. What can I do ?

This camera was brand new the beginning of this year and has worked fine ever since a couple weeks ago when the auto focus feature stopped working, the lens does not turn by it’s self. How can I fix this problem? The camera still takes normal pictures when I manually focus.

First check the switch on your lens and make sure it is set to “A”… not “M”

My wife bought me a Canon T1i digital camera, my old camera is a Minolta 330 RZ 35mm film camera?

I know nothing about these digital cameras, I’m from the old school. Where can I learn to use this strange camera, I turned it on and it looks like something from Star Trek. I only know about film cameras. Where can I learn to use it ? There are so many different settings. I only want to take some pics of my son playing his little league baseball games.

With a little information you can take GREAT pictures at your sons little league games.

Try looking at your owner’s manual and other materials in several sittings. It can be overwhelming to try and learn everything about your camera all at once.

Personally, I would go to the store where she bought the camera and ask for one on one help to get you going and/or see if they have a seminar for new DSLR owners. You’ll find you actually have a huge head start over someone who never used an SLR.
